About Me
Senior Systems Engineer with a passion for AI, automation, and infrastructure
Background
I'm a Senior Systems Engineer focused on the practical application of AI in everyday workflows — from building and configuring MCP servers to integrating AI agents into real infrastructure. I believe the most interesting things happening in tech right now are at the intersection of AI tooling and traditional systems engineering.
I run a home Kubernetes cluster on bare metal where I self-host everything I can — it's my lab, my sandbox, and often the first place I deploy new ideas. Whether it's standing up AWX for automation, wiring Home Assistant into smart home hardware, or experimenting with AI agent frameworks, hands-on beats reading docs every time.
I also do technical training — helping teams get up to speed with AI tools, understand how to build on top of LLMs, and make sense of the fast-moving AI ecosystem. The goal is always practical: less theory, more things that actually work.
By day I'm on the IT team at Texas Roadhouse. We also happen to be 3-time Champions Division winners of the Louisville Great Bed Race — yes, that's a real thing, and yes, we've dominated it three years running. 🏆
Interests & Expertise
AI Tooling & MCP
Building and configuring Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, integrating AI agents into real workflows, and training teams on practical AI adoption.
- • MCP server setup & configuration
- • LLM integration & agent frameworks
- • AI technical training & enablement
Kubernetes & Home Lab
Running a production-grade bare-metal Kubernetes cluster at home — the proving ground for everything from distributed storage to GitOps and monitoring.
- • Kubernetes (bare metal, kubeadm)
- • Longhorn, MetalLB, cert-manager
- • AWX, Prometheus, Grafana, New Relic
Automation & Infrastructure
Automating everything that can be automated — from infrastructure provisioning to home network management and CI/CD pipelines.
- • Ansible, Terraform
- • GitHub Actions, CI/CD pipelines
- • Python, Bash scripting
Smart Home & IoT
Home Assistant, WLED lighting, and a fully automated home network — because why do anything manually when it can be scripted?
- • Home Assistant & integrations
- • WLED & smart lighting
- • Network infrastructure & VLANs
Cars & Wrenching
When I'm not in front of a terminal, I'm usually under a hood. I enjoy doing my own car maintenance and repairs — and documenting it on YouTube.
- • DIY maintenance & repairs
- • Oil changes, brakes, diagnostics
